At the counter
Choose from a short list
Whoever is not dealing at the time pours across the back counter — tea, coffee, lemonade and the odd jug of cordial for the later hands.
This has never been a kitchen. There is no cooking behind the counter, no plates come out, and no menu is ever handed round.
The counter keeps the same hours as the room and closes with the last hand, usually somewhere around one in the morning.
